THE Powerday Foundation

Improving the lives of young Londoners through sport and opportunity

THE Powerday Foundation

The Powerday Foundation (formally the Crossan Family Foundation) was established out of the Powerday Development Programme which was set up to provide support and funding to local sporting organisations and individuals in London.

We believe passionately in the power of sport to improve health and wellbeing and foster stronger communities.  We have been working in partnership with London Boxing since 2011 to improve sports facilities and equipment particularly in disadvantaged communities.

In the last 10 years, we have sourced and invested over £14.5 million into London clubs in hard-to-reach areas, helping over 80 estate-based boxing venues, enabling volunteers to do more in better facilities and also increased levels of equipment.  This has had a positive impact on 20,000 participants in the most marginalised and socio-economically challenged areas of London.

Annual boxing
show

Every year, The Powerday Foundation hosts an annual boxing show, showcasing some of the best talent from London and Dublin amateur clubs.

All money raised from these events contributes towards the projects that we champion and the work that we do in supporting young men and women in the capital.

If you are interested in receiving more information once the 2023 show is announced, please email foundation@powerday.co.uk

Annual BURSARy
awards

The annual bursary scheme was launched in 2015 to assist aspiring amateur boxers from across London to achieve their potential at regional, national and international levels.  Since then, we have awarded over 50 bursaries in what is the only commercial bursary scheme of its kind, with previous recipients include Tokyo 2021 Olympian Caroline Dubois.

In 2023, we plan on expanding these bursary awards to other sports. For more information please email foundation@powerday.co.uk

the foundation’s
five year plan

In 2021, we launched a new five-year plan to work with partners to deliver activities for more than 10,000 young people across London by 2025 and provide and attract over £2m in funding. We have a particular focus in our plan on increasing participation among those with traditionally low participation rates, notably women and girls, and those with disabilities and special needs.  Activities include sponsoring the UK’s first national competition for swimmers with Down syndrome which takes place in November 2022.

swimming championships

Powerday is sponsoring the first British Swimming Championships that will enable swimmers with Down syndrome to compete at the highest level in a national competition.

This unique event will provide opportunity for swimmers with Down syndrome from across Great Britain, from novices to athletes who have represented Great Britain at European and World Down syndrome swimming championships, this is a first for swimmers with Down syndrome who are not currently represented in the British Paralympic team.

hey
girls

One of The Powerday Foundation strategy goals is to encourage more female participation into boxing/sports. Last year, we announced our first female brand ambassador, professional ex world champion Shannon Courtenay. Together, with social enterprise Hey Girl we want to provide free period products for all young girls in all London Boxing clubs. Hey Girl have agreed to add the boxing clubs to their donation list, meaning every product we buy, they will donate the same product to the club free of charge.

In October 2021, WBA World Champion Boxer Shannon Courtenay became the Foundation’s first female brand ambassador. We are delighted to have Shannon on board supporting our projects and helping bring awareness to them and helping to meet one of our foundation aims to encourage female participation in boxing and sport.

Repton Boxing is the most successful amateur boxing club in the UK. Three year’s ago they needed assistance in replacing their roof. The Powerday Foundation helped them secure funding to complete the renovation and continue to flourish as the world-renowned club they are. London
Boxing

The Powerday Foundation has sponsored London Boxing for a decade. London Boxing has over 100 clubs throughout London, where everyone is welcome to participate in the sport. These clubs have been renowned for decades for producing amateur and professional Champions, as well as for providing a safe and disciplined club environment in some of the most challenging areas. If you want to also support all or any of these clubs please get in touch.

dale youth
our power hub

Dale Youth Boxing Club was previously located in Grenfell Tower before the 2018 fire. The Foundation helped the club access and fund the Grenfell Tower facility in 2016 and found the club a temporary home after the fire so that the team could continue their work in the local community.

Powerday supported the rebuild of the now brand new facility with free construction equipment and waste management services.

Our Powerday Hub was created to support the residents after the tragic fire. The programme provides free access to events, activities, community enrichment and other services. All the events and sessions take place in Dale Youth.
