Climate Resilience
We fully recognise the climate emergency and the urgent need for climate action. We are committed to taking immediate and impactful steps to reduce our carbon footprint whilst building our resilience to climate change that is already happening.
Through our Climate Resilience pillar, we’re building a low-carbon, future-ready business on the path to net zero. By driving climate
adaptation, fleet decarbonisation, and sustainable procurement, we turn climate action into an opportunity to innovate and strengthen our operations.
Powerday continue to reduce its operational emissions, achieving a further 6% decrease in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 6.12% drop in carbon intensity, keeping us on track for our 2026 reduction target. This year also marks a major milestone with the first full disclosure of Scope 3 emissions, all independently verified to ISO 14064 standards, strengthening the transparency and credibility of our carbon reporting.
Our transition towards a cleaner fleet advanced significantly with the introduction of the UK’s first fully electric RoRo vehicles (arriving next year) and continued operation of London’s first electric skip lorries.
Alongside electrification, our certified HVO rollout now covers the entire Old Oak Sidings fleet, contributing meaningfully to Scope 1 reductions and improving air quality, with plans to extend adoption to Enfield.
Solar energy continues to expand across our operations, with 2,600 panels and new battery storage now supplying 25% of our annual electricity demand, surpassing original targets and improving energy resilience. Circular practices also reduced embodied carbon, with refurbished machinery from Finning Caterpillar delivering a 61% reduction in embodied emissions, showcasing the environmental value of reuse over replacement.
