Through our Empowering Communities pillar, we create opportunities and positive change where we work. By championing the power of sport, young people, and goodwill contributions, we help communities thrive through inclusion, purpose, and collaboration.
Powerday continues to deliver meaningful social value across London, generating £13.88 million in 2023–24, an 11% year-on-year increase. This includes local employment, apprenticeships, training, volunteering, and sustainability initiatives that redirected nearly 36,000 tonnes of hard-to-recycle materials from landfill. With verification of our latest results pending, and anticipated to show further growth, we remain committed to strengthening our role as a responsible community partner.
Our enrichment programmes continue to inspire and prepare the next generation, with 41 students taking part in school enrichment days and an additional 9 students completing work experience placements in 2024/25. These sessions provide hands-on industry insight, practical employability skills, and visibility of career pathways in the waste, recycling and sustainability sectors, helping young Londoners build confidence and access new opportunities.
Through the Powerday Foundation, we continue to support inclusive, community-led sport, including long-standing investment in London Boxing, club development, bursaries and outreach programmes. This year marked the milestone of 100 boxing bursaries awarded over the decade. We also announced our 2026 charity partner, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, strengthening our commitment to supporting children and families across our communities. Additionally, our continued sponsorship of the British Down Syndrome Swimming Championships helps champion inclusion and excellence in sport.
