2nd Powerday Manifesto Sees Even Greater Sustainability Ambition
18th May 2022

We are delighted to launch our second sustainability and wellness manifesto demonstrating the outcomes of our previous manifesto and setting new ambitious targets for 2022 against all five of our sustainability pillars.
Our new manifesto sets out our plans to be a responsible business and focus our resources and efforts on the areas of sustainability most important to our stakeholders and where we can have the biggest impacts. Our commitments for 2022 address some significant challenges and will see us set a net-zero carbon target, develop a clear equality, diversity and inclusion plan, and seek to have a positive effect on the health and wellbeing of over 2,500 young Londoners.
Edward Crossan, Chief Executive Office says: “The progress we made in 2021 has demonstrated to us just how much we can and should do to have a positive impact on our planet and society. This second manifesto takes us further on our sustainability journey and ensures Powerday is not just leading in waste management but also in responsible business practices.”
Our first manifesto launched last year set out our new strategic direction with our employees, communities, planet, clients and supply chain at its heart. We set wide reaching targets and made huge progress against all five of our newly defined sustainability pillars including expanding our training programme Powerday Academy, rolling out a new health and mental wellbeing scheme across educational establishments in London under Powerday Foundation, and taking significant steps to reduce our carbon emissions including transferring our sites to renewable energy tariffs.
Mick Crossan, Chairman, Powerday says: “Powerday is so much more than a waste management company and, as such, we aspire to have a positive impact on those around us and our planet. We are pleased to launch our second sustainability manifesto to showcase our extensive achievements against our five pillars in the last twelve months and ambitious targets for the next twelve. We have always continually challenged ourselves to do better for our clients, employees, community and the environment and this annual manifesto demonstrates how we are achieving against this year on year.”
