Powerday becomes albert certified

Home of environmental sustainability for film + TV

Powerday is delighted to have become an albert accredited supplier!

Powerday is delighted to announce it has become an approved albert supplier, enabling the film and TV industry to divert more of its waste from landfill.

Founded in 2011, albert supports the global film and TV industry. It aims to reduce the environmental impact of production and create content that supports a vision for a sustainable future. albert-certification has become a requirement for any production company working for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, UKTV, Sky, TG4 or Netflix, who are then expected to take actions to reduce their emissions as far as possible.

Powerday is one of only five albert-certified waste management suppliers in the UK. Its six sites, strategically located across London, are capable of processing up to 3m tonnes of waste every year, and is licenced to handle hazardous wastes like paint, adhesives, mastic tubes and oily rags.

The company’s state-of-the-art Materials Recycling Facilities (MRFs) – open 24 hours a day, seven days a week – sort recyclable materials and process residual materials for future use as renewable fuels, ensure 100% is diverted from landfill.

Already working with some of the country’s leading studios, Powerday’s albert certification will give the film and TV production industry peace-of-mind that its waste is being handled and disposed of responsibly in an environmentally sound manner.

Emily Ferreira, Commercial Operations Leader at Powerday, commented: “Once filming on a set has finished there is often a lot of waste left behind, from sets, props, rigging equipment and more. The creative industry is making huge strides forward in reducing its overall environmental impact, and the way waste is handled can deliver further benefits. Our services, from advice on container types to waste management, are already used by some of the country’s most important studios to recycle all manner of materials, including wood, metal, plasterboard, hazardous chemicals and more.

“Thanks to our state-of-the-art MRFs, all of our clients can be assured that their waste is being diverted from landfill. We’re delighted to have achieved albert certification and look forward to helping the industry continue its excellent progress towards a sustainable future.”
