POWERDAY PRESENTS CHEQUE FOR £12,000 TO CYSTIC FIBROSIS TRUST

Powerday staff raise £12,000 by climbing Ben Nevis in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition which affects more than 10,800 people in the UK. One of those people being our very own Charlotte Bones. Charlotte’s battle with CF has been anything but easy but her courage and determination to bring awareness to her condition is inspiring.

One in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes CF, usually without knowing. Cystic fibrosis comes with challenges, affecting our physical health, mental wellbeing and how we choose to live our lives. But the CF community is uniting towards the ultimate goal of effective treatment for all. Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the charity uniting people to stop cystic fibrosis.

Charlotte Bones, from Powerday, said: The CF Trust is one of Powerday’s chosen charity partners to fundraise for every year and I am over the moon to be able to hand over a cheque for £12,000. 2020 was a turbulent year for me when my life took a dramatic turn andI had a major haemorrhage that put my life in the balance. However, with the help of a lot of medication and work, I was able to bounce back. I started to feel stronger when Kaftrio came along and changed my life. I am now able to exercise 5 times a week and eat lots of food. I know firsthand how far this money will go and how important vital funds like this are in funding and developing new medications. If you would have told me two years ago that I would be climbing Ben Nevis, I would have laughed so being able to raise money to help as many people as I can means so much to me, because without vital finds I would not be here!
