POWERDAY SAVES 60 TONNES OF CO2E IN 2022 BY SWITCHING TO ELECTRIC COMPANY CAR FLEET
Equivalent to 25,000 litres of diesel
With the launch of our latest Sustainability & Wellness Manifesto, Powerday reports a saving of 60 tonnes of CO2e in 2022 by switching company car fleet to electric vehicles.

In December 2021, we replaced our entire company car fleet and installed 10 EV charging points at our Old Oak Sidings site in Willesden Junction. Whilst we know that our company car emissions are a fraction of the rest of our fleet, we are pleased that by making this change we have taken 15 combustion engine cars off the road.
Decarbonising our fleet (our Scope 1 emissions) is going to be difficult in the short term as the developing technology is not yet widely available for zero carbon HGVs, however this investment in our company car fleet is a signal of our commitment to making genuine progress in this area. Our fleet managers are working hard to build knowledge of the options and identify how we are going to bridge the gap until we can make real progress. We are investigating and testing different available technologies, and this includes in 2022 being the first business within the UK to trial Volov’s first ever 18-tonne electric skip vehicle, and electric dustcart. In 2023, we continue to explore low carbon technology, and have already successfully tested HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) in both our fleet and plant. We also expect to test a hybrid electric HGV later this year.
The Manifesto sets out clear objectives and targets under our five sustainability pillars; our employees, communities, carbon management, clients, and procurement. As well as these challenging targets, the Manifesto plots our roadmap to net zero in line with our recently announced net zero target for Scopes 1 and 2 and shares this and our other successes for 2022. We are particularly delighted with our progress against our carbon management pillar, not only in the setting of our net zero target but in the carbon reduction measures we have taken to date.
