Hillingdon Renews Agreement For Waste Weekends

Hillingdon Council has renewed its agreement with Powerday to host Waste Weekends which enable residents to take their household waste and recycling to Powerday’s temporary site in West Drayton.Powerday started holding the Waste Weekends in the London Borough of Hillingdon when Rigby Lane Civic Amenity site was closed in 2009. The new contract sees Powerday host the weekends until March 2013.
Mick Crossan, Chairman, Powerday says: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to continue to support the London Borough of Hillingdon. These Waste Weekends have added to the local services being delivered by Hillingdon, helped increase the borough’s recycling and given great value to the residents. We are delighted that they will continue.”
Cllr Keith Burrows, Cabinet Member for Planning, Transportation and Recycling says: “Hillingdon Council recognises the contribution the Waste Weekends make in our efforts to manage the borough’s waste in a cost effective and environmentally responsible way, helping us to achieve our diversion from landfill targets. We are very pleased to have renewed the agreement and to be able to continue to provide this valuable service to our residents. The weekends continue to be very popular with an ever increasing range of materials sent for recycling”.
The Waste Weekends run one weekend a month with the site open 9.00am to 4.00pm on the following dates:
24th and 25th November
22nd and 23rd December
26th and 27th January
23rd and 24th February
30th and 31st March
