Launching Our 2024 Sustainability Manifesto

Powerday Launch Sustainability Manifesto 2024
Launching our 2024 Sustainability Manifesto

We are delighted to launch our 2024 Sustainability Manifesto sharing many of our achievements from 2023 and setting out our objectives for 2024 under each of our five sustainability pillars.

Powerday published our first Sustainability and Wellness Manifesto in 2021 setting out our sustainability priorities under five pillars – our employees, our clients, our communities, our carbon management, our procurement.  Since then, we have produced these reports annually to account for our progress against these pillars and to publicly declare our commitments for the coming year.

This year, we were delighted to be able to report we had exceeded our first Scope 1 and 2 net zero interim target – a reduction of 20% against our 2021 baseline year by 2023.  Having achieved a 25% reduction, we are now focused on how we get to our next target of a 35% reduction by 2026, and on setting equally ambitious targets for Scope 3 emissions.

We were also proud to complete the Women into Construction gender diversity programme and a voluntary gender pay gap review in 2023 recognising that women are under-represented at all areas of Powerday.  We now have clear objectives and a plan to improve gender equality, recruiting our first female Associate Director in 2023 and implementing a new equality, diversity and inclusion policy company wide.  We are continuing to build an inclusive environment, with a particular focus on women feeling empowered and experiencing no discrimination or harassment.

We continued to deliver the highest levels of service to our clients throughout 2023, achieving an average score of 95% across all criteria in our annual survey including health safety, delivery on time and reporting and documentation.  Our client focus in 2024 remains on providing the best service, continuing to move waste up the hierarchy, and collaborating to deliver social value.

In line with the Powerday Foundation strategy, we delivered activities to over 2,500 young Londoners in 2023, directly investing over £146,000 in community facilities and projects, and securing over £357,000 in additional partnership funding.  Our focus for 2024 remains on supporting the health and wellbeing of our communities through sport, education and other opportunities.

Mick Crossan, Chairman, Powerday says: “I’m very proud that we have continued to make huge contributions across all our five sustainability pillars and we have so much to update our clients and partners on in our latest Manifesto.  Taking another step forward on our sustainability journey, we continue to push ourselves in 2024 to exceed our clients’ expectations, make life better for our employees and our communities, and protect the planet.”

We were pleased to have awarded this contract to Powerday.  They have delivered their services efficiently and reliably, achieved high recycling rates and 100% recovery, meeting our requirements throughout the project.  They have been easy to deal with, reasonable and fair.  We have been particularly impressed with their account management and waste reporting capabilities
