Powerday Announces New Partnership With The Lighthouse Club Charity

Leading independent recycling and waste management company Powerday has partnered with The Lighthouse Club Charity, to support the charity’s important work to improve the emotional, physical and financial wellbeing of those working within the construction industries.

The London-based recycling and waste management company will play a key role in fundraising and raising awareness to support the charity’s work. Donations will be used to provide a wide range of pro-active support resources for the construction community, including the charity’s 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline, complementary app and free wellbeing and health training.

As one of the charity’s official Company Supporters, Powerday will, in return, receive priority access to free Mental Health First Aider training. It will also receive a helpline pack of cards to distribute to its workforce and posters to display throughout the business. All of which will help to raise awareness of the support available, and efforts to improve mental health and wellbeing in the construction industry.

With heightened public awareness of the impact of mental health across the UK, the charity aims to shed light on this often-taboo topic in the construction industry – which sees two workers taking their own lives every day. The charity’s recently launched its ‘Help Inside the Hard Hat’ campaign to demonstrate the importance of addressing poor mental health within the industry.

Powerday’s announcement to partner with the charity coincides with the company’s own efforts to improve employee health, following the launch of its new Sustainability and Wellness manifesto.  With a focus on employee engagement, the company aims to increase productivity and quality by cultivating a working environment where wellness, training and education are at the core of the company’s values.

Anthony Davitt, Sales Director, Powerday commented: “Mental health has always been something of a social taboo and rarely discussed within the construction industry. Our partnership with The Lighthouse Club helps to underpin our own focus on employee wellbeing and efforts to raise awareness of the support available. We hope by partnering with the charity we can help to make a difference and improve the lives of those affected.”

Bill Hill, CEO, Lighthouse Club, added: “We’d like to thank the Powerday team for their commitment to support the Lighthouse Club and our ongoing efforts to improve the wellbeing of those working in the construction industry. As an official company supporter, Powerday will help us to continue raising awareness and ensure construction workers know where help is available – whether it’s financial support or wellbeing advice. Working in collaboration with companies, like Powerday, means we can continue to offer invaluable services where they are most needed.”
