Powerday Commences Operations At Enfield Mrf

Powerday today held the official opening of its new £10million state-of-the-art materials recycling facility in Enfield, North London.

Located at Powerday’s former waste transfer station in the Brimsdown area of Enfield, the new facility mirrors the capabilities of Powerday’s existing larger Old Oak Sidings facility in Willesden Junction. The plant is permitted to process 330,000 tonnes of construction and commercial waste from the London area, producing high quality recycled materials and renewable fuels for the energy from waste market.

The company is creating up to 60 jobs at the plant which will deliver an environmental and economic boost to Enfield and provide a welcome addition to waste processing capacity in the heart of the Capital. The new green jobs will include skilled and labourer posts for which full training will be offered, as well as opportunities across in all departments of Powerday operations.

Powerday already employs over 200 people at its sites in Willesden and Brixton, with further staff being employed in waste logistics at construction clients’ sites across London. The company has grown significantly in recent years and now has a turnover exceeding £40m. It sees this growth continuing with the new facility offering greater options for clients and another high volume production site for refuse derived fuels (RDF), making it an attractive collection point for RDF collectors currently exporting to Europe and Scandanavia via the Eastern ports.

Construction of the Enfield materials recycling facility began in autumn 2014, the design and installation of the recycling and recovery equipment has been delivered by Powerday’s engineering partner Turmec Engineering.
