London Triumphs at Powerday Foundation Dinner Boxing Fundraiser
On Friday 21st November, The Powerday Foundation hosted its Boxing Dinner Fundraiser, held at the Royal National Hotel in Russell Square.
Over 300 guests were in attendance, where London and Dublin faced off in their team match. The night celebrated boxing talent, community spirit, and charitable giving, with London taking the win 5–1.
The evening opened with a historic moment: the first female bout ever featured at a Powerday Dinner Show. England international and multi-national champion Lexi Walker (Wolverhampton ABC) displayed her trademark skill and composure to secure a unanimous decision win against Amelia Barker (Eltham & District ABC), thrilling the crowd and setting a high standard for the night.
The main card showcased a series of exciting contests. Roberto LaCourt (London Select – Repton ABC) outboxed Dublin’s Lee McEvoy (Avona BC) to claim a 4–1 split-decision victory in the 65kg bout. In the 68kg match, Michael Omokayode (Dagenham ABC – London) controlled the fight from the outset, finishing with a dominant win over Cian Cramer (Cabra BC – Dublin).
At 57kg, Shadrach Olubanjo (Islington Boxing Club – London) impressed with sharp combinations and relentless pressure, forcing multiple counts before earning a stoppage against Liam Murphy (Cherry Orchard BC – Dublin). Dublin’s Karl Sheridan secured their only win of the night against Alston Ryan (Repton ABC – London) in a scrappy 65kg contest.
London’s dominance continued as Nicholas Dorsett (Islington Boxing Club) scored a first-round stoppage over Patrick Friary (Cherry Orchard BC – Dublin) at 75kg, followed by Joash Oluwatoki (Belvedere ABC – London) claiming a split-decision win over Taylor Guiney (St Mary’s BC – Dublin) in the 78kg bout, his second victory of the season.
