Powerday Foundation Celebrates 11th Annual Boxing Bursary Awards

Delivered in partnership with London Boxing, this year’s ceremony saw 11 talented young boxers receive a Powerday Foundation Boxing Bursary, taking the total number of bursaries awarded since the programme was launched in 2015 to 111.

Former WBA Super Middleweight World Champion George Groves joined the awards as special guest, presenting each recipient with their bursary and sharing his own experiences of dedication, resilience and perseverance at the highest level of the sport.

Hosted at Powerday’s Head Office in Willesden, the annual awards brought together boxers from clubs across London alongside their coaches, families and supporters to recognise not only sporting excellence, but the commitment, discipline and resilience that boxing develops in young people.

The 2026 Powerday Foundation Boxing Bursary recipients are:

The Powerday Foundation Boxing Bursary Programme provides financial support to talented amateur boxers, helping to remove financial barriers that can prevent young athletes from reaching their potential. The bursaries contribute towards essential costs such as equipment, competition fees and travel, allowing young boxers to focus on their development both inside and outside the ring.

The event also celebrated the long-term impact of the programme, with former bursary recipients Sacha Hickey, Patris Mughalzai and Damar Thomas returning as Powerday Foundation Boxing Ambassadors. Having each progressed through the bursary programme, all three are now representing Team England at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Their success is a powerful example of the lasting impact the programme can have, inspiring the next generation of young boxers and demonstrating what can be achieved through talent, hard work and the right support.

For more than a decade, Powerday has been a proud and long-standing sponsor of London Boxing, working together to strengthen grassroots boxing across the capital. Through the Boxing Bursary Programme and wider community investment, the partnership has supported hundreds of young people, helping them access opportunities, build confidence and develop life skills through sport.
