Powerday Foundation helps secure £60,000 investment for West Ham Boxing Club
The Powerday Foundation has helped secure more than £60,000 of investment for West Ham Boxing Club, bringing together funding from the National Lottery Awards for All, Dulux Community Makeover and the Foundation itself to transform one of London’s most historic amateur boxing clubs.
Working closely with the club, the Powerday Foundation supported the funding application process, identifying external funding opportunities and securing grants on the club’s behalf to maximise the overall investment. The funding package will deliver a major refurbishment of the club’s changing rooms, showers and youth meeting spaces, while creating capacity for an additional 100 young people aged 8–18 to take part in boxing each week through extended opening hours and new dedicated sessions.

For more than a decade, the Powerday Foundation has supported grassroots boxing clubs across London, helping to create safe, inclusive spaces where young people can build confidence, resilience and ambition. Alongside direct financial support, the Foundation works with clubs to unlock additional funding, ensuring community organisations can access the investment they need to grow and thrive.
Founded more than 104 years ago, West Ham Boxing Club has long been at the heart of East London, producing over 200 National Champions, 50 England Internationals, European Champion Viddal Riley and Olympic gold medallist Terry Spinks. This latest investment will help ensure the club continues to inspire and support future generations.

Edward Crossan, CEO of Powerday, said:
“Supporting boxing clubs has always been about much more than improving buildings. It’s about creating opportunities for young people and strengthening the communities we serve. We’re proud that the Powerday Foundation was able to work alongside West Ham Boxing Club to secure this significant package of external funding, helping maximise the investment available and ensuring the club can continue changing lives for years to come. We look forward to seeing even more young people benefit from the outstanding coaching and community that West Ham Boxing Club provides.”
Dean Hollington, Chairman of West Ham Boxing Club, said:
“We’re incredibly grateful to the National Lottery, Dulux and our long-standing partners at the Powerday Foundation. The Foundation didn’t just contribute funding – they helped us secure funding from other organisations that has made this transformation possible. These improved facilities will provide the quality changing rooms, showers and youth space that the young people of Newham deserve and will allow us to welcome many more young people through our doors.”
The project is another example of the Powerday Foundation’s long-term commitment to investing in grassroots sport across London, helping local organisations secure the resources they need to deliver lasting social impact.
