Powerday Partners With Closed Loop Proplex Recycling Company To Improve Recycling Rates
23rd May 2022

Powerday has entered into a partnership with temporary protection materials supplier, Protec International Ltd, to deliver a fully closed loop recycling and remanufacturing service for Proplex to construction sites across London.
The Proplex ClosedLoop Remanufacturing Scheme sees Powerday offer collection services for Proplex and other twinwall corrugated plastic sheeting of any size, colour and thickness to clients.
The materials will be segregated on site and collected by Powerday’s carbon neutral fleet. The material will then be bulked and baled at Powerday’s HQ in Willesden and transported to Protec’s Manufacturing and Recycling Centre in Sheffield for processing.
Protec is Europe’s largest supplier of temporary protection material to the construction industry, and they have invested over £2million in a state-of-the-art washplant and recycling line. This enables them to recycle and remanufacture these waste materials into new ProplexRE products in a closed loop process.
Simon Little, Associate Director at Powerday says: “We are delighted to offer clients this closed loop recycling service that takes these voluminous plastic materials out of the residual waste stream and keeps them in the circular economy”.
Jim Riley, Sustainability Manager at Protec: “As a plastics manufacturer, we take our impact on the environment very seriously. By partnering with Powerday, we can take back the waste they retrieve from construction sites and recycle it back into the material we need to manufacture new temporary protection sheets, ProplexRE. This allows Powerdays residual material to be put into a circular recycling system, which provides us with a sustainable long-term source of raw material, helping to protect our planet”.
Powerday recently launched our second Sustainability and Wellness Manifesto with a target of ‘increasing our reuse and recycling rates in 2022 as we seek to move clients’ waste up the waste hierarchy’. This partnership is a further commitment to make it as easy as possible for Powerday’s clients to manage their resources sustainably and to reduce the environmental impact of their waste.
