Powerday Sponsor Galway as they take on London GAA in the Connacht Football Senior Championship
London, April 6, 2024 – The Connacht Football Senior Championship kicked off this Saturday at McGovern Park, Ruislip, as London GAA took on the defending champions, Galway. The highly anticipated match saw Galway secure a victory with a final score of 5-21 to London’s 0-09.
The Connacht Football Senior Championship is an annual knockout competition featuring the senior county teams of Connacht GAA. This prestigious tournament includes all five Connacht counties – Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, and Sligo – alongside London and New York. The winners and runners-up of the championship progress directly to the All-Ireland Group Stage.
The game not only displayed the teams performance on the pitch, but also a demonstration of corporate support, with Galway receiving sponsorship from Powerday alongside fellow Galway-rooted companies Coinford, Heverin Haulage, The K Club, and the Galway Association London. This backing reflects the strong community ties within Galway’s support network.
Galway are the current holders defeating Sligo in last year’s final, successfully defending the title they won in 2022 against Roscommon. In Saturday’s game, the Galway team had no issue as they made a fast start to the 2024 Championship with a 5-21 win against London 0-09.
