The Emergence Of Covid-19

Dear All

We hope that you, your families and communities are safe and healthy.

It is now almost two months since the country went into lockdown, and we continue to live in truly unprecedented times. We watch with cautious optimism as countries throughout the world gradually reopen for business and here at Powerday we are preparing for the New Normal by planning and defining how we will operate during and post Covid-19.

Firstly, our hearts go out to anyone who has been impacted, either directly or indirectly, by this virus. Our thoughts are especially with those who are sick, to whom we extend our heartfelt wishes for a full recovery. We remain truly inspired by the selfless dedication of healthcare workers around the world who are on the frontlines working tirelessly to care for people in need.

The health and safety of our employees, customers, families and communities is of the upmost importance to us. When it is possible, our employees are encouraged to work from home but if office and/or plant working is required, our guiding principal for all decisions and actions is not to put our colleagues at risk. Our compliance team ensure that our risk assessments are dynamic allowing us to incorporate different circumstances as they arise, and we continue to closely monitor UK Government and Public Health England guidelines. We have written our own Powerday Covid -19 Employee Handbook which has been circulated to all staff which details the specific arrangements processes and procedures we have put in place at site and office level to protect our staff.
On a commercial level, our site activity has gradually increased, and we expect that all Powerday sites will be operational within the next 10 days. We are also excited to announce that we have acquired a new facility near Heathrow Airport that will give us further coverage throughout West London and the surrounding counties. Elsewhere, we have been busy developing our overall product offering with significant developments to our digital ordering platform Powerday Pal with a view to allowing Powerday to further integrate, support and service your business. Our hazardous waste handling capability has significantly increased, while we are also developing a new waste-only logistics package that will be launched imminently. We are currently exploring a scrap metal capability and will further advise once in place.

Throughout this pandemic, our teams have been working with you, our customers, via digital channels as much as possible; we have all become Zoom and Teams experts. Regretfully, we have postponed some of our face-to-face corporate events but our marketing department has been working tirelessly to create new materials that will explain how our range of services can benefit you over the coming months. Importantly, we remain available to meet via video conference at any time until it is safe to have face-to-face meetings again.

Supporting communities has always been incredibly important to us. Since March, our Vice Chairman, Edward Crossan, has spearheaded a campaign to prepare and deliver 1,000 meals a day to key workers in London’s main hospitals, care homes and schools. In partnership with London Irish Rugby Club, the Powering The NHS  initiative has delivered more than 30,000 meals to date.

Despite the on-going challenges, we continue to be laser-focussed on delivering a first-class service to you, ensuring your project’s success. We have weathered many storms in our 44-year history, and we were built to handle moments like this. Our company was founded on the core values of trust, customer success, innovation and equality, and our relentless mission to provide an unparalleled service is stronger than ever.

As we go forward, know that we value your questions and welcome any feedback. Please do keep us abreast of your own preventative policies and future plans, so we can understand how they may impact the delivery of our services to you. Our Head of Sales Anthony Davitt can be contacted directly by email on anthony.davitt@powerday.co.uk or by mobile on 07805 555525 to deal with any additional service delivery requirements you may have.

We appreciate your business and on behalf of Powerday’s Board of Directors wish you and your family safety and good health in the weeks ahead.

We were pleased to have awarded this contract to Powerday.  They have delivered their services efficiently and reliably, achieved high recycling rates and 100% recovery, meeting our requirements throughout the project.  They have been easy to deal with, reasonable and fair.  We have been particularly impressed with their account management and waste reporting capabilities
