The Powerday Foundation Celebrates 100^th Bursary Awarded

Powerday Foundation, the charitable arm of London’s leading, family-owned waste management company, announces the recipients of its 2025/26 boxing bursaries. This marks a decade of unwavering support for amateur athletes.

These prestigious awards were presented during a dedicated ceremony at Powerday Hooks Boxing Club in west London on Thursday, 26 June 2025. The bursaries were presented by Tara Crossan, Associate Director – Marketing & Communications at Powerday; Belina Hashami, Cllr Cabinet member for thriving communities at London Borough of Ealing; and Reggie Hagland of London Boxing.

The Powerday Foundation is dedicated to bridging the gap between regional and international standards and funding, significantly contributing to the future of boxing by nurturing the next generation of talent through this unique scheme that has now awarded over 100 bursaries.

A select group of ten promising young athletes received 12-month grants, designed to provide crucial financial support as they strive to achieve their dreams of competing at an elite level. This unique bursary scheme, the only commercial one of its kind, is now in its tenth year of investing in talented amateur boxers across London.

Since its inception in 2015, the Powerday Foundation has provided vital assistance to more than 100 young people, helping them unlock their full potential and excel at regional, national, and international levels. Notable alumni include Olympic Bronze medalist Caroline Dubois and World Junior Silver Medalist Damar Thomas, testaments to the scheme’s far-reaching impact.

This unique bursary scheme offers a lifeline to many talented athletes, enabling them to focus on their training and development without financial burden.

For over 15 years, Powerday has provided invaluable support in developing and implementing London Boxing Development Plans. Building on the pre-London 2012 Olympic Games schools initiative, Powerday has enabled exponential growth for amateur boxing across the capital. The continued support by Powerday has helped to fund London Boxing and over 80 clubs, attracting over £14.5 million in direct investment into the sport, facilities, and communities across London. This also provides access to the social, health, and mental well-being opportunities the sport offers to all ages, genders, and abilities.
