Two More Employment Scheme Delegates Start At St George
1st December 2017

Two more construction employment scheme delegates started at St George’s One Blackfriars development last month.
The award-winning scheme, run in partnership with social enterprise The Forward Trust (formerly Blue Sky) and HMP Onley, gives inmates from the Category C prison in Northamptonshire the opportunity to receive training and subsequent employment with The Forward Trust and Powerday at construction sites across London. Successful delegate are offered a six month contract of employment with The Forward Trust who place them within Powerday’s teams on site.
Powerday provides comprehensive onsite logistics services to long standing client St George, part of the Berkeley Group. With this including the provision of forklift and hoist drivers, security, plant, equipment and consumables as well as the management of traffic into and on site, there are many opportunities for delegates to gain experience and progress into long term employment.
St George, and the wider Berkeley Group have a strong commitment to sustainability including providing social benefits through sourcing labour from the communities in which they work. Both employment scheme delegates are from South London, near to the One Blackfriars development.
Powerday’s construction employment scheme was awarded a Green Apple Award for Sustainable Development earlier this month.

We were pleased to have awarded this contract to Powerday. They have delivered their services efficiently and reliably, achieved high recycling rates and 100% recovery, meeting our requirements throughout the project. They have been easy to deal with, reasonable and fair. We have been particularly impressed with their account management and waste reporting capabilities
