Five Pillars of sustainability
At the heart of everything we do sits Powerday’s five pillars. These form the very foundations of the business and are used as benchmarks for our ongoing successes for our clients, employees, community and the environment.
We will provide a safe and caring working environment in which our employees are respected, supported and flourish, and our business is productive and successful
With an ethos of giving back, we use our sustained growth to support the health and wellbeing of our local communities, and particularly young Londoners, through sport, education, and employment
We fully recognise the climate emergency and the urgent need for climate action. We are taking immediate and impactful steps to reduce our carbon footprint whilst building our resilience to climate change that is already happening
We commit to providing a quality, value-for-money service that makes it as easy as possible for our clients to manage their resources sustainably and to reduce the environmental impact of their waste
We aim to procure in a way that reflects our sustainability priorities as well as our business needs

Review and adapt our health and wellbeing programme to ensure we provide the physical and mental support best suited to our employees.
Ensure that at least 33% of all office staff, and all new recruits, complete at least three SCSS training courses relevant to their roles and our sustainability priorities by the end of 2023.

Our communities
With an ethos of giving back, we use our sustained growth to support the health and wellbeing of our local communities, and particularly young Londoners, through sport, education, and employment
Have a positive effect on the health and wellbeing of more than 2,500 young Londoners in 2023 through The Powerday Foundation’s long-term strategy and sponsorship programme.
Improve the local environment within a 3-mile radius of Old Oak Sidings and Canning Town sites.
Directly support at least 22 young Londoners through education, sport and employment opportunities in 2023.

Our carbon management
We fully recognise the climate emergency and the urgent need for climate action. We are taking immediate and impactful steps to reduce our carbon footprint whilst building our resilience to climate change that is already happening
Reduce our Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 20% in 2023, in line with our net zero target, against our 2021 baseline.
Begin to collate data to ensure setting of Scope 3 target as soon as we can credibly do so.
Continue to build our understanding of the key risks to our business from climate change. Continue to offset our unavoidable fleet emissions, doing so for the financial year 2021/22 by June 2023.

Our clients
We commit to providing a quality, value-for-money service that makes it as easy as possible for our clients to manage their resources sustainably and to reduce the environmental impact of their waste
Continue to divert 100% of our clients’ construction and demolition waste from landfill whilst seeking to move waste up the waste hierarchy wherever possible.
Collaborate with our clients and supply chain to build mutual understanding of what a zero waste and zero carbon world means for our business.
Continue to maintain an average client heath & safety score of 90%+ for 2023.
Collaborate with at least ten clients during 2023 on projects that create real social value to communities local to clients, and our sites.

Our procurement
We aim to procure in a way that reflects our sustainability priorities as well as our business needs
Aim to integrate the services of at least two more social enterprises by the end of 2023.
Identify opportunities to improve sustainability in our procurement with at least two mid-tier suppliers during 2023.
Continue to build our understanding of our scope 3 emissions, and how to fully integrate our sustainability priorities into our procurement.
