Understanding our contribution to society
Powerday provides social value across all our five sustainability pillars. In 2019, we signed up to the Social Value Portal (SVP) which provides an online service by which we can measure our contribution to society. This nationally accepted framework uses the Themes, Outcomes and Measures (TOMs) framework which gives a financial value to social impact. Through the SVP, we produce annual social value reports which help us to formalise our structures and provide the best social value. This shows the true wider economic, social and environmental impacts of our day-to-day business and community work.
Our first report was a retrospective for the financial year August 2018 to July 2019 and we have continued to report every year since. According to the Social Value Portal calculations, we have generated over £30m of social value in the last four years. In the most recent period, August 2020 to July 2021, we generated over £11m in social value, a staggering increase of 22% on the previous 12 reporting months. We looking forward to publishing our 21/22 results in the new year!
We were pleased to have awarded this contract to Powerday. They have delivered their services efficiently and reliably, achieved high recycling rates and 100% recovery, meeting our requirements throughout the project. They have been easy to deal with, reasonable and fair. We have been particularly impressed with their account management and waste reporting capabilities
